Bowood Hotel and Bowood House host a wide variety of events and activities across the year – from face painting, treasure trails and half term fun at the House, to Sunday Caveries, literary afternoon teas and sparkling festive parties. We keep this events list up to date, and we will also post events on our facebook page, to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

Stunning Rhododendron Walks - Sat 01st June 2013

This is a spectacular attraction offering breathtaking vistas of colour and beauty covering over 60 acres. This woodland oasis of azaleas, magnolias and rhododendrons is considered to be one of the most exciting gardens of its type in the country; it lies on a seam of green sand running from Poole in Dorset to The Wash on the East Coast.

The Rhododendron Walks will now be open until Sunday 23rd June 2013 (according to flowering season).

Combined tickets are now available at a discounted rate for the Rhododendron Walks and the House & Gardens. Visits can either be made on the same day or split over two visits.

Private Walled Garden Tour - Wed 19th June 2013

On selected Wednesdays throughout the year visitors can pre book to join a guided tour of the Private Walled Gardens.
The tour will includes;
- The imposing Terraces
- The Private Gardens which are divided into four one acre squares; formal borders, picking gardens, fruit and vegetables and glass houses.
- A two course delicious lunch served in the House Restaurant.
Visitors to Bowood can only visit the Private Walled Gardens as part of a guided tour; the tour is also available to groups of 20 or more.

Bowood’s Botanical Heritage Exhibition - Sun 30th June 2013
Following their success of our 2012 ‘Plants in the Park’ exhibition, held in conjunction with the Bath Royal Literary & Scientific Institution (BRLSI), Lord Lansdowne invited members of the Bath Society of Botanical Artists, to produce an exhibition of botanical illustrations from the Bowood Estate,
The Bath Society of Botanical Artist's exhibition will be held in the Bowood House Orangery throughout the open season and will include illustrations of specimens from the important collection of Rhododendrons, as well as plants from the walled garden and the extensive arboretum.
The exhibition runs during the whole of Bowood's open season: 20 March - 5 November 2013.

Triathlon - Sun 30th June 2013

Join Events Logic at Bowood for an exciting Triathlon, which takes in all the sites through Bowood Estate
Event Format
The swim will take place in the fresh water private lake set in the lower part of Bowood Estate. You will enter the water on the pontoon and start between the marked buoys, and swim around the set course. The exit will be on the pontoon, which leads into a sloping climb towards transition. Transition will be located on the finely manicured lawns and under the shadows of Bowood House. Racking will be numbered according to waves. The cycle route will take you into the 'wilder' parts of Bowood Estate, looping around the grounds past Bowood Golf Course, Osprey Farm, and including Lord Lansdownes' private driveway, which is inhabited with game fowl. Once completing the cycle stage, you will head out on a picturesque run around the estate, taking in stunning scenery of Bowood Lake, The Cascade Waterfall and The Doric Temple. On completion of the lap, the finish line will be near transition.

For all spectators to the event, to gain entry into the grounds, there are admission fees. These fees are set by Bowood and there will be no exceptions. If you are competing, you will gain free access into the grounds with you race number. There are fantastic facilities for children, in the adventure playground and softplay area.

Wiltshire Game and Country Fair - Sat 28th September 2013

The Wiltshire Game and Country Fair graces the magnificent grounds of the Bowood Estate, for the 7th time in succession.
The Falconry Village has native and some more exotic Birds of Prey, all waiting for the chance to stretch their wings and fly! The Craft Village comes complete with a working demonstration, beautiful contemporary and traditional arts and crafts. Food Glorious Food is perfect for food lovers. Chefs cook up some tasty delights and regional producers sell delicous food and drink.
Children can throw a pot and make a face or 'Learn How To' fish with the Angling Trust, handle a gundog and get close to a hawk. More traditional children's entertainment is included.
The show's arenas are encompassed by an array of country and craft stalls, selling everything from country clothing and accessories to handcrafted art and regional food and drink.
And take time to relax in the Piazza with its British favourites, tasty treats and healthy options.

Duathlon - Sun 06th October 2013
